I had a nice chat with a friend today that is an anti-aging specialist. I had never had a problem eating goya, also known as bitter melon, until I purchased it in the U.S.. Bye-bye champuru, one of my favorite dishes. With all of the chemicals and hormones used in food growth, production and processing in the U.S., I can't say that I am surprised. It may simply be that I have an allergy or that I am just 'food sensitive' to Goya. Without health insurance, a $500 - $1000 test can tell.
Food sensitivities can oddly be caused by yeast overgrowth which causes holes to develop in the stomach lining which causes the immune system to react to such, then the food sensitivities develop or simply 'come to life' in some cases. The risk of actually becoming sensitive to yeast itself is there and is a natural part of a healthy digestive track. Lowering the yeast amount, no fun. It may means no taking antibiotics, cutting sugar from your diet and yeasty foods including beer, bread and mushrooms! All in all, an ALCAT test may be the best bet at this point followed by indulging into the joys of functional medicine a reaping its rewards for a healthier (and safer) life.

Pink Sands, Bahamas

Love the Bahamas. Pink Sands, Harbour Island is beautiful with it laid back atmosphere and the best conch salad ever at Queen Conch near the port. Spicy!

Eleuthera Island is definitely the best island for snorkeling. Having the beach all to ourselves was a definite perk and something I look for in a public beach in general. The accommodations on the island use recycled water. Thus you will never get clean here as the water still has a high salt concentration. I love sea salt swimming pools but not my shower! Ick. The only down side.
